WHAT IS MEDITATION, AND WHAT ARE IT'S BENEFITS? 

Meditation is a practice of mindfulness, becoming aware of the breath and the emptying of the mind to allow total connection to your Inner World, the world of Spirit. By calming our bodies and taking time to connect with the Divine by observance of the breath, or whatever calmness comes to you during guided meditations, or the trance-like meditations that come to you while listening to high vibrational music, or just the stillness as you go about tasks such as doing dishes, house cleaning, driving (with care). In these trance-like states, we open our transmitters to receive the Divine Messages. This can be done immediately after prayer, or not. Some experience this as thoughts, but in time are able to discern the random thoughts of the ego mind from the enriching and messages coming through as thoughts put forth by the Divine. As we open our awareness to this beautifully connected state, we begin to see patterns and signs emerge in our world; not because they weren't there, but because we were giving our attention to other, more mundane things. The Divine is busily assisting us in our everyday lives, but cannot interfere with our free will. We must ask for their help, for the highest and best outcome for all in any given situation. Our requests must be respectfully aligned with God's will.  Each of us has this latent ability, or abilities to sense the Divine beyond our natural five senses in the physical. Some immediate benefits of regularly practicing any type of meditation; guided, free flow, visualization, sound baths, listening or experiencing live the sounds of nature, whatever is most appealing to you, is that you increase your awareness. Your psychic abilities especially intuition will increase immediately, you will decrease stress, learn to relax, to breathe and while observing your breath, empty your mind of all the clutter that distracts you from attuning to the life force in our bodies [Chi or Qi energy], and aligning it with that of the Creator. The benefits are decrease in or elimination of stress, increased healing of the body and integration of discordant energies within the body/mind/spirit, clarity of mind, increased memory, heightened sensitivity of the 5 physical senses, increase psychic awareness, increased centeredness, calmness and serenity; increased good health, increase of positive emotions and decrease or elimination of negative emotions. A happier, more stable and grounded, healthier life experience can be had  opening oneself to the regular practice of meditation.

Guided meditations are useful when you are a beginner and do not know what to do. Additionally, even for advanced meditators, there is a specific enhancement you want to focus on during the meditation, and do not have an immediate insight as to how to go about it. There is also just your intuition telling you that you would like to experience what a certain meditation has in store for you, and you are drawn to the subject of that meditation. Experimentation and practice are the key to becoming comfortable with integrating the daily practice of meditation into your lives.
